My Story

In 2008, I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelors in Communication Studies. My emphasis was in Public Relations and Photography (black and white film) with a Spanish minor. A few months later, I moved to Denver, CO where I met and later, married my husband. My husband and I, along with his son, ended up spending a couple years in Phoenix, AZ where I was the Marketing Director at a start-up company. I hadn’t worked there for very long before my first child was born. He came 7 weeks early so I decided to take an indefinite maternity leave starting in 2010.

Soon after this, our little family moved to Norman, OK in order for my husband to continue his education at the University of Oklahoma. For the next decade, I stayed home with my children full-time while my husband got his B.A., M.A., and P.H.D from OU. We now have a grand total of 5 boys, ranging from a 5 year old to an 18 year old. During this time, I developed an interest in typography and graphic design. I would jump at every opportunity to design a flyer or a graphic for the various groups to which we belonged. It all started with a church needing a logo… then another organization needed event flyers… then a homeschool group needed help with their website… And I finally realized that I REALLY enjoy typography and designing!

I finally took the plunge in 2019, when my youngest was barely a year old, and went back to school. My husband was in grad school when I started taking graphic design classes at Oklahoma City Community College, so our time became even more limited! There were many times where I was studying and designing with a toddler in my lap, or hanging off my arm. In May, 2020, when I was in the middle of my graphic design program, I was offered a job at an amazing local small business that is close to my heart. I was hired on as the in-house graphic designer and web specialist at Max Mamas, a local natural living boutique. I couldn’t have asked for a better jumping off point for working in the graphic design industry. I graduated in May, 2021, with an Associates in Applied Science in Digital Media Design with an emphasis in Graphic Design.

We moved to Bellemont, AZ in June of 2022 for my husband’s new career at Northern Arizona University. Our family of 7 has fallen in love with the Flagstaff area and hope to make it our forever home.

In August 2022, I officially launched Inker Media Designs LLC. I have been collaborating with Brandi Briscoe at Whirl Creative on many website projects.
